According to the private consultant Ecolatina, the devaluation of the Argentine peso is one of the main reasons that explain that tourism is one of the few sectors that remain afloat in the current recessive context. The consultant highlighted that while the GDP accumulated an annual contraction of 2.5%, the hotel and lodging activity grew 1.5% in the second quarter of 2019. Additionally, it improved the balance between the entry and exit of international tourists. In the first half of the year, the arrival of tourists grew 19% annually and the departure of Argentines abroad was reduced 16%.
