Paraguay aims to become a center of potential business when it assumes the chairmanship of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), an administrative mandate that will start on January 2, 2018 and conclude on June 30 of the same year.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Gustavo Leite. "The chairmanship of MERCOSUR has the administrative aspect of carrying out the daily affairs of various issues. In the diplomatic field we hope that by 2017 the expected free trade agreement with the European Union will be signed and then there is the economic sphere", he said.
Leite also mentioned that the chairmanship will seek to focus on the country so that the world's entrepreneurs know the possibility of Paraguay becoming a BusinessCenter. "We are the logistics axis of the region, we have the potential to be the food factory for the world and very great opportunity in the development of the forest industry," he said.
He explained that all meetings of the regional bloc will be held in the country, giving the economy a significant flow of tourism. "We are waiting for a semester to which we have to take much advantage," he concluded.
On the other hand, he mentioned that Asuncion and Ciudad del Este aim to become a corporate tourist center. "We are in the center of the continent so that the entrepreneurs come to make their conferences and seminars," he said.
