With an initial investment of US $ 300 million, Chinese enterprise Dongfeng will build in José C. Paz (Province of Buenos Aires), the first electric vehicle factory in Argentina. The project will generate 500 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs.
This first plant to manufacture and assemble electric vehicles consolidates the agreement signed between the municipality and Dongfeng Group, the second manufacturer of electric buses and cars in China.
"This factory in José C. Paz represents the union between the public and private sectors in order to protect the environment. We are very pleased to put our district at the top of the automotive avant-garde," said Mario Ishii, Mayor of José C. Paz.
Currently, there are some small-scale electric car projects in the country. For example, Sero Electric is manufactured in La Matanza (Province of Buenos Aires). It weighs only 340 kilograms and can reach a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. It is manufactured in two versions: sedan and van and its price ranges from $ 160,000 to $ 210,000 argentine pesos.
