Petrolera Amerisur plans to once again drill for oil in northern Paraguay in April, while two other private companies plan to explore for oil in the Chaco region, Deputy Minister of Mining and Energy Mauricio Bejarano said.
Petrolera Amerisur will be drilling at Pozo Jaguarete I, a concession that the company won in the Chore region of San Pedro province, located about 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Asuncion, Bejarano told Radio Monumental.
The area where the “greatest progress” has been made is Chore, Bejarano said.
“Amerisur, to start with, plans to drill at Jaguarete I and will continue with others based on the results at that well,” the Deputy Minister of Mining and Energy said.
In the Chaco, which occupies the western half of Paraguay, President Energy and Hidrocarburos Chaco continue exploring for oil, Bejarano said.
