Within the framework of the program to increase and diversify exports PADEX, a large business delegation from Argentina participated in Sea Food Expo North America, the largest fair of the fishing industry in the United States.
Fourteen Argentine companies participated in largest fishing industry event March 15-17, held in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, in the United States. Sea Food Expo North America each year attracts an average of 20,000 importers, distributors and buyers of fresh and frozen fish, as well as buyers of other products, equipment and services related to seafood sector from more than 100 countries.
Argentina’s delegation presented its products at a national pavilion coordinated by the Foreign Ministry with the export promotion agency Fundación Exportar and the Federal Fisheries Council Foundation, identified by the slogan "The Argentine Sea, the Wild South" (“Mar Argentino, Salvaje y Austral”). There, 14 companies made over 360 contacts with potential buyers, of which they expect 125 will result in sales.
The new impetus for Argentina’s fishing industry is part of the process the sector is undergoing to expand its exports to various destinations. According to INDEC, sales to the United States grew nearly 17% in 2014, reaching US$ 112 million, more than doubling in the last five years.
