During the 15th and 16th of September took place in the city of Moscow the XI Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Economic Cooperation between Argentina and the Russian Federation. Argentina's delegation was headed by Carlos Bianco, Minister of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Russian delegation was led by Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Russian Sanitary Control.
The meeting permitted to deepen an intense agenda of cooperation between the two countries, which included the following areas: technologies and capital goods for the production of hydrocarbons, joint ventures and the research in clean energy in the hydro, nuclear and tidal areas, transportation, ports and other issues of common interest.
Russia committed to expedite procedures for enabling imports of dairies, fisheries, sheep meat, beef, pork and other products. The Russian Health Control Service will analyze the list of over a hundred production facilities submitted by Argentina at the meeting of the Committee and shall inform the other members of the Eurasian Customs Union for their approval in the near term.
The meeting of the Joint Commission took place in the context of a climate of friendship, understanding and common interest that have historically characterized the relationship between the two countries and that in recent years was elevated to the status of "strategic" relationship after the agreements signed by the Heads of State in 2008.
This intergovernmental meeting was held in parallel with a major trade mission to Russia in which participated 114 Argentine companies from the food and beverage industries, agricultural machinery, medicines and equipment for the oil and gas sector.
