BISFE 2014 provided an excellent forum to position Argentina’s seafood segment, which registered a 17% annual increase in exports in 2013.
In Busan, South Korea, Argentina attended the Busan International Seafood and Fisheries Expo (BISFE), which took place July 2-4, 2014. Organized annually by the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) and Korea Fishery Trade Association, BISFE is the most important fishing and seafood trade in South Korea.
Argentina's participation in the event reflects the local sector’s growth in 2013; Argentine exports of fishery products totaled US$ 1.502 billion (the highest since 2005), while export volumes were up 17% over the previous year.
The Argentine stand, coordinated by the Foreign Ministry, was visited by about 100 people. Also at BISFE 2014, Argentine businesspeople held business meetings with new and existing customers, while Argentina Embassy officials in South Korea met with 23 importers interested mainly in shrimp, squid and rays. The promotional activities spearheaded by the Foreign Ministry during the show helped disseminate the country's export products and strengthen the presence of the Argentine products in South Korea.
