Sixteen Argentine companies seeking to expand their exports traveled to Hong Kong to participate in the Asia Fruit Logistica, where they presented their goods at Argentina's stand coordinated by the Foreign Ministry.
Sixteen Argentine companies in the fruits and vegetables segment displayed the high quality of their products in Hong Kong, as part of the Asia Fruit Logistica. The event, considered the most important on the Asian continent, was held September 3-5, 2014. Argentina had a stand coordinated by the Foreign Ministry. There, domestic companies met with potential business partners from around the world.
Argentina’s participation at Asia Fruit Logistica aimed to strengthen the country’s presence in the vast and dynamic Chinese market. Today the second largest economy in the world, China is one of the most booming. In 2013, China was the second most important destination for Argentine exports, a market that has shown consistent growth over the last decade, with an increase of 133%. Meanwhile, fresh fruits and vegetables represent one of the segment’s with the largest export potential, thanks to product freshness and a high quality standard recognized worldwide.
At the show, Argentine companies (from the provinces of Tucumán, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Mendoza, Rio Black, Salta and Buenos Aires) closed sales, established 220 contacts and received more than 50 requests for price quotes. Also, the Argentine stand was visited by two of the largest importers in Hong Kong. It is worth noting that in the context of their participation at Asia Fruit Logistica 2014, the participating companies also had the opportunity to visit and meet with representatives of the importing group Park & Shop, which has more than 300 supermarkets in Hong Kong.
