As reported by the Ministry of Labour, 125,000 registered jobs were lost from February 2020 to February this year, around a 1% drop. The total number of salaried people contracted since the beginning of the pandemic by 1.4%, which implies about 133.7 thousand salaried employees. This fall is made up of setbacks of 2.6% in the private sector (-154.9 thousand workers) and 3.6% in work in private homes (-18.2 thousand), while the public sector presented a positive variation of 1.2% (+39.4 thousand). On the other hand, independent work presented a positive variation of 0.4%, which implies an increase of 9 thousand jobs. The most relevant falls were in Hotels and restaurants (-21.4%), Construction (-8.9%), Community, social and personal services (-5.7%), Mining and quarrying ( -5.5%), Transportation, storage and communications (-3.6%), Financial intermediation (-2.3%), Education (-2.0%), Commerce and repairs (-2.0%), and Agriculture, livestock, hunting and forestry (-1.1%).
