Economic activity fell 1% on a monthly basis in February, the first contraction since last April, according to data published by the INDEC national statistics bureau on Thursday. From a year ago, the economy contracted 2.6%. In February, six sectors grew year-on-year, among which Construction led growth with a rise of 11.7%, followed by 3.5% in Financial Intermediation, 3.4% in Commerce, and 1.6% in Industry. The Real Estate, business and rental activities sector also grew 1% and the Agricultural sector by 0.7%. The largest retractions occurred in Hotels and Restaurants, with 38.2% year-on-year, and "Other service activities" 17.7%, both activities severely affected by the pandemic.
