Since 2005, Argentina received infrastructure investment projects from the Chinese govt., for more than USD 30.6 billion, which until 2019 represented 39% of the total commitment assumed by the Asian country in Latin America and the Caribbean. This was reported by Monitor of Chinese Infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) 2020, prepared by the researcher of the LAC-China Network, Enrique Dussel Peters, who analyzed the deployment of China's infrastructure projects in the region since 2005. Dussel Peters highlighted the significant presence of projects in South America, over the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. Argentina is the country whose 17 Chinese projects represented the highest amount, with USD 30.6 billion during 2005-2019; and a participation in job creation of 26,205 positions, equivalent to 9.57% in LAC.
