In May, Paraguayan exports totalled USD 4.26 billion (a fall of 21.8% compared to May 2019). 75% of the total exports went to Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. In terms of revenue, Argentina is Paraguay’s largest export market with a total value amounting to USD 1.1 billion, 34.6% of the export total (an increase of 12.6% from May 2019). Brazil was in second place, with a total of USD 1 billion, 32.5% of the export total (a fall of 6.2% from May 2019). Chile is in third place, with a total of USD 245.1 million, 7.7% of the export total (a fall of 5.7% from May 2019). Meanwhile, imports in May totalled USD 3.8 billion (a fall of 20.3% from May 2019). China is the main source of imports, totalling USD 1.1 billion, 30.8% of the import total. Second is Brazil, with 21.2% of the import total, and Argentina in third with 8.8% of total imports. Paraguay’s foreign trade transactions both in exports and imports year-to-date totalled USD 8.1 billion, marking a decrease of 21.1% year-on-year.
