The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) estimated that the regional GDP will fall an average of 9.1% this year and that there will be 45.4 million more poor people, the poverty will reach 230.9 million people, equivalent to 37.3% of the total population. Meanwhile, the Eclac projected for Argentina a GDP contraction of 10.5% for this year and an increase in poverty of 10.8 percentage points compared to 2019, going from 26.7% to 37.5%.
