The “zero tariff” policy for the importation of solar panels for renewable energy projects, which are part of the RenoVar program and that ends on December year, will be extended throughout 2019. This was confirmed by the national director of Renewable Energies, Maximiliano Morrone, at Airec Week 2018, an important event of this sector that takes place in Buenos Aires.
Morrone said that the decision to implement the “zero tariff” policy for the import of solar panels, whether finished or semi-finished ones, has been confirmed by the government for next year. This measure will include imported panels that do not contain diode (semi-finished) and also those that do have it and are ready for installation.
The objective is to boost the import of photovoltaic modules for the 41 solar projects of the RenoVar program, which together represent 1,732 MW in total.
This measure has already been approved by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Production. It remains to conclude some revisions by the Argentine Customs and the official announcement can be done in the following days, according to Morrone.
