The food and beverage industry, one of the sectors with more competitive advantages in our country, is looking for internalization and to growth at the exports level. As part of this strategy, these industries are focusing on South East Asia, one of the regions that have been growing concerning the importations from Argentina in the last months.
The governor of Córdoba, Juan Schiaretti, and the Secretary-General of the Federal Council of Investments (CFI), Juan José Ciácera, presented yesterday the Institutional and Commercial Mission of the Centre Region (Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos provinces), which will take place from 29th May to 4th June.
Argentine entrepreneurs will search for business opportunities in the International Fair THAIFEX 2018 – World of Food Asia in Bangkok, in where Argentina has been appointed as “partner country”, and a business round in the city of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
“For Córdoba and the Region of the Center of Argentina, internationalization is imperative. It is a key asset in order to sell the world the work of these three provinces. Undoubtedly, one of the sectors in which Argentina has comparative advantages is the processed food area. Argentina is meant to be a relevant supplier of food” said governor Schiaretti.
On the other hand, Mr. Ciácera pointed out that THAIFEX “will give us a lot of visibility and the opportunity to entrepreneurs of the Centre region to have meetings with 150 importers of Asia, which we consider considerably important”.
According to data of INDEC (National Institute of Statics and Census of Argentina), in the first two months of the year, the exports to the ASEAN countries totalized USD $1007 million and a trade surplus was registered of USD 512 million.
However, there is a huge potential given that the 89.8% of the exports to ASEAN are soy flour and pallets of soy, corn and wheat.
